In April 2023, Nothando Mkhwanazi made a decision that would change more than her wardrobe. She invested R2,500 in Miko & Anna as a birthday gift to herself—a practical step that soon grew into something much bigger.
A gift that opened a door
Three years later, Nothando says she is making around three times that original amount through the business. As a single mother, the growth has brought meaningful support to everyday life. Her Miko & Anna earnings help her put food on the table, pay school fees and cover transport costs.
Growing beyond one opportunity
The journey has also given her the confidence to think beyond one source of income. Nothando has since expanded into farming, adding another chapter to a story built on initiative, consistency and the courage to begin.
Building a more secure future
What looked like a birthday present in 2023 became a foundation for greater independence and a more secure future for her family. Her experience is a reminder that progress often begins with one deliberate decision, followed by the determination to keep going.
“I’m really thankful for this brand,” Nothando says.
Her journey continues
At Miko & Anna, stories like Nothando’s show what can happen when opportunity meets determination. From a first investment to supporting her family and creating new possibilities through farming, her journey continues to grow.
